The boring but important stuff.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Copycat Cafe. By creating an account, starting a trial, buying a subscription, or using the service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The service

Copycat Cafe is an AI-assisted language-learning app. It may include lessons, chat practice, speech recognition, text-to-speech audio, pronunciation scoring, flashcards, feedback, progress tracking, emails, and related features. Copycat Cafe is a learning aid, not an accredited school, exam board, immigration service, medical service, legal service, or guaranteed path to fluency.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Copycat Cafe. You must have legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

3. Accounts

  • You are responsible for keeping your login details secure.
  • You must provide accurate account and billing information.
  • You may not share, resell, or transfer your account except where we expressly allow it.
  • You are responsible for activity that occurs through your account unless caused by our breach of these Terms or applicable law.

4. Subscriptions, payments, and Paddle

Paid subscriptions are sold and managed through Paddle, which acts as merchant of record / authorized reseller for the purchase. This means Paddle is responsible for collecting payment details, processing payments, calculating and collecting applicable taxes, issuing invoices/receipts, handling certain buyer support, and managing subscription billing under Paddle’s own Buyer Terms and Privacy Policy. Copycat Cafe Limited provides the language-learning service, product support, and account access.

If Paddle’s buyer terms conflict with these Terms on payment processing, taxes, invoices, statutory withdrawal mechanics, or Paddle-managed billing flows, Paddle’s buyer terms control for those payment matters. These Terms control your use of Copycat Cafe.

Prices, currencies, taxes, renewal intervals, trial terms, and billing dates are shown at checkout or in your billing portal. Unless stated otherwise at checkout, subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Access to paid features depends on having an active subscription or trial.

Payments may appear on your bank statement as PADDLE.NET* FRENCHTOG, PADDLE.NET* COPYCATCAF, or a similar Paddle descriptor.

5. Free trials, cancellation, and refunds

  • Trials require a valid payment method unless we state otherwise. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, Paddle will charge the subscription price, taxes, currency, renewal interval, and billing date shown at checkout.
  • You can cancel a subscription from your account billing page or Paddle’s subscription management flow.
  • Cancellation stops future renewals. It does not automatically refund the current billing period unless required by law or by the guarantee below.
  • We currently offer a 30-day money-back guarantee for your first paid subscription charge. To use it, contact [email protected] within 30 days after that first paid charge. We will refund that first paid charge through Paddle.
  • The guarantee is intended for genuine first-time purchases. We may refuse repeated, fraudulent, or abusive refund requests, but this does not limit mandatory consumer rights.
  • This guarantee is in addition to any mandatory consumer rights you may have.

If EU consumer withdrawal rights apply, you may have a statutory 14-day right to withdraw from a digital service purchase. Where you request immediate access to digital content or services during the withdrawal period, your withdrawal rights may be affected as explained at checkout and under Paddle’s buyer terms, without limiting mandatory rights that cannot be waived.

6. AI, speech, and learning feedback

Copycat Cafe uses third-party AI, speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and pronunciation-scoring providers. AI output, translations, corrections, transcripts, scores, and feedback can be inaccurate, incomplete, delayed, or unsuitable for your situation. Model/provider choices may change as we evaluate quality, reliability, cost, latency, and privacy posture. You should use AI and speech feedback as learning aids and apply your own judgment.

When you chat with Copy or another in-app tutor, you are interacting with an AI system, not a human teacher. AI-generated messages, translations, corrections, transcripts, scores, and explanations may be wrong or incomplete.

Audio in the service may be synthetic, provider-generated, or created using voice models licensed or authorized for our use. It is not a live human speaking to you unless we clearly say otherwise. Pronunciation scores are practice feedback, not formal language certification. Please do not submit sensitive personal data in chats or recordings unless necessary.

7. Your content and our license to use it

You keep ownership of content you submit, such as messages, recordings, answers, translations, and support requests. You grant Copycat Cafe a limited, worldwide license to host, store, transmit, process, analyze, reproduce, and display that content as needed to provide, secure, support, debug, maintain, and improve the service, including prompts, quality assurance, and product improvements described in our Privacy Policy.

You must have the rights needed to submit content to Copycat Cafe. Do not upload unlawful, harmful, confidential third-party, infringing, or abusive content.

If you send us feedback, suggestions, ideas, or improvement requests, you allow us to use them without restriction or compensation, but this does not give us ownership of your personal content.

8. Family, school, and team accounts

Some plans may allow an account owner, family organizer, school, teacher, or team administrator to invite or manage other users. Administrators may be able to see information needed to manage the plan, such as invited email addresses, account status, seat usage, and subscription status.

Unless we clearly say otherwise in the product, family plan organizers do not receive access to the private chats, recordings, transcripts, or detailed learning history of other family members.

School, educator, team, classroom, or dashboard features may involve additional administrator access to learner progress, usage, scores, or account activity. Those features require separate terms, privacy disclosures, and, where applicable, a data processing agreement before use.

Copycat Cafe is not for users under 16 unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing through a school or similar arrangement with appropriate permissions and safeguards.

9. Acceptable use

You may not:

  • break the law, violate others’ rights, or misuse the service;
  • harass, threaten, exploit, or harm others;
  • attempt to bypass subscriptions, rate limits, security, access controls, or bot protection;
  • scrape, reverse engineer, copy, resell, sublicense, or build a competing service from Copycat Cafe except where allowed by law;
  • interfere with the service, overload it, introduce malware, or attack our infrastructure or vendors;
  • use generated audio, transcripts, or AI outputs for unlawful, deceptive, defamatory, or infringing purposes.

During an active subscription or trial, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Copycat Cafe for your own language learning, subject to these Terms.

11. Service changes and availability

We may change, add, remove, or limit features, lessons, vendors, models, voices, prices, or plans. We aim to keep Copycat Cafe reliable, but the service may be interrupted by maintenance, outages, third-party vendor issues, security events, or other causes.

12. Termination

You may stop using Copycat Cafe at any time and may cancel your subscription as described above. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, do not pay, create risk or liability, misuse the service, or where required by law. After termination, we handle data as described in our Privacy Policy.

13. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Copycat Cafe is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free AI output, specific learning results, exam success, or that every vendor, model, or feature will remain available.

Copycat Cafe is for language-learning practice only. Do not rely on AI output for medical, legal, immigration, safety-critical, or emergency decisions.

14. Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by negligence where such exclusions are not permitted. Subject to that, Copycat Cafe Limited is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, loss of profit, loss of data, or business interruption. For paid users, our total liability for claims relating to the service is limited to the amounts you paid for Copycat Cafe in the 12 months before the claim, unless applicable consumer law requires otherwise.

15. Consumer rights

If you are a consumer, you may have mandatory rights under the laws of your country of residence. Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit rights that cannot legally be limited, including EU consumer protection rights.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Cyprus, except where mandatory consumer protection rules in your country give you additional rights. Courts or authorities may apply mandatory local consumer law where required.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms when our service, vendors, models, pricing, legal obligations, or business change. If a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you before it takes effect or request acceptance where appropriate.

Changes will not reduce the core paid features of your current subscription period or increase the price of your current subscription period unless you agree or applicable law allows it. Price changes apply only to future renewals after notice where required. If you do not agree to material changes, you should stop using the service and may cancel your subscription before the next renewal.
