If your audience regularly asks, “Where can I find a good language tutor?”, italki is one of the easier products to recommend. People already understand the offer: choose a teacher, book a lesson and speak with a real person.
The affiliate program is active, free to join and refreshingly straightforward. But it pays less—and has a few more attribution catches—than many older articles suggest.
I checked these terms against italki’s public pages on August 30, 2026. Always confirm the offer in your account before quoting it to your audience.
What italki actually pays
italki’s current wording is “at least $10” for a new student who registers through your link and makes a first qualifying purchase. That is the useful figure to plan around—not the $15 commission repeated by older directories.
You are paid monthly for the previous month through PayPal or Payoneer. italki does not publicly state a minimum payout or separate validation period.
The commission is one-time. If the student keeps taking lessons for years, that is good for the student and tutor, but it does not create recurring affiliate income for you.
The attribution rule I would read twice
The cookie lasts 30 days, but time is not the only condition. The student needs to be new to italki and must not have previously clicked another italki affiliate link. Gift cards, coupon purchases, self-referrals and several other transactions are excluded.
That means a reader can discover italki through your review and still fail to qualify if another affiliate touched the journey first. If you promote it, read the official program explanation and avoid promising that every first purchase will be credited.
Who I would promote italki to
italki makes the most sense when your audience:
- wants feedback from a human teacher;
- needs a language that smaller apps do not support;
- is comfortable choosing a tutor and arranging lessons; or
- already believes one-to-one teaching is worth paying for.
That last point matters. A modest commission on a product your readers already want can outperform a large percentage on a product that needs a long explanation.
Would I choose italki or Copycat Cafe?

I would choose Copycat Cafe for an audience learning French, Spanish, Italian or German that wants structured speaking practice without booking lessons. Learners listen and rebuild a practical line, copy useful chunks aloud with focused feedback, then use them in low-pressure conversation.
My honest verdict
italki is a credible program attached to a useful product. The $10 minimum commission is not spectacular, but the offer is simple to explain and human tutoring is easy to recommend honestly.
Apply if your audience already wants tutors. Choose a recurring program if your content is better suited to app-based learners and you want to share in later subscription payments.
